USA: Terrifying Home Invasion in Queens: Suspects Arrested, Family Rescued
Seven family members were rescued from a terrifying home invasion in Queens, New York, early Saturday morning, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Emergency responders were alerted around 2 a.m. after receiving a call from the Douglaston area of Queens, as reported by WABC. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a woman fleeing the house, clutching a baby, according to police.
The woman informed officers that three intruders had broken into the home and were still inside with her other family members, who included a 72-year-old man, a 71-year-old woman, a 44-year-old woman, a 43-year-old man, a 13-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and a 1-year-old girl, authorities said.
The suspects allegedly brandished firearms and hammers during the incident, police reported. The 43-year-old man told police he had been struck on the foot with a hammer, while the 71-year-old woman reported being punched in the face. However, both victims declined medical treatment, according to the NYPD.
The three suspects managed to escape through a window, taking cash with them, police said. They were later found and arrested after investigators deployed drones to search the area around the home.
The motive behind the invasion remains unclear, and police have not released details on the charges the suspects may face.
